The horse & carriage discipline, an
emotional experience of ancient traditions.
From the beginning, man has used the horse, be it with a sled or wheel, to transport himself and his belongings. Bringing and towing from one century to the next, the horse has had great importance for humanity, because of his function as a labor force, which was fundamental for industry and progress. Before the trains, the trucks and the machines, many races of horses served as international transporters, be it in agriculture, passenger travel, or sport racing. The horse, with his cousins the donkey and mule, was the motor of humanity from the invention of the wheel to the beginning of 1900. The modern horse & carriage driving discipline preserves the age-old tradition of knowledge and skill. Some disciplines stem directly from the old traditions, for example from forestry. Others, preserve older practices, such as the transporting of beer, which still draws much enthusiasm. Horse & carriage driving includes break in training, marathon testing and hurdles. The elegance and pace also counts. The various types of carriages require special harnesses for the horses and clothing of the coach drivers and passengers. This forms a harmonious and functional unity.
